The project’s vision
Universal Doctor® was created to redefine international medical care. Conceived by Valentina Flaminio and developed by MedCare Engineering S.r.l., the project connects doctors from different countries, partner pharmacies, accommodation providers and people travelling.
Its strength lies in how these relationships are organised: clinical expertise, technology and cooperation protocols enable participants to contribute to a shared care pathway. Care can accompany people’s mobility, even when languages, professional licences and health systems change.
Medical excellence as a foundation
In the Universal Doctor model, excellence is built through professional expertise, accreditation, training in remote care and exchange between colleagues. The quality of each doctor gains strength through an organised network.
Dialogue with universities, postgraduate medical schools and research centres supports professional development and international cooperation. Collaboration with postgraduate medical schools at the University of Naples Federico II contributes to this vision.
The reference doctor and medical telecooperation
A doctor who speaks the patient’s language facilitates listening, understanding and the exchange of clinical information. That doctor is the point of contact for a pathway to which other network professionals can contribute.
When the doctor is not licensed to prescribe in the patient’s current country, a locally licensed colleague from the same Universal Doctor network can be involved. That colleague assesses the case and acts within their remit, including any prescription. Telecooperation coordinates this expertise while respecting professional roles.
Value for the participants
For doctors, Universal Doctor provides a setting for international professional cooperation and remote care. For pharmacies, it offers an organised connection to the medical network when a traveller’s request requires an assessment or prescription.
For hotels and accommodation providers, the project adds a dedicated care pathway to hospitality. For travellers, it enables access to a doctor who speaks their language and can coordinate with local professionals.
Dedicated pathways are available through the Doctors, Pharmacies, Hotels and Travellers’ app portals.
The company and development
MedCare Engineering S.r.l. is based in Naples. Universal Doctor was selected for support under PR Campania FESR 2021–2027, Campania Startup 2023.
