What is Universal Doctor?
Universal Doctor® is an international medical telecooperation ecosystem. It brings together doctors from different countries, partner pharmacies, accommodation providers and access channels for travellers in an organised care pathway.
What role does medical excellence play?
Excellence is the project’s foundation: clinical expertise, accreditation, training in remote care and professional cooperation. The network’s value lies in connecting these qualities to support continuity of care.
How do training and research contribute?
The project values professional development, exchange with universities and research centres, and training in international cooperation. Collaboration with postgraduate medical schools at the University of Naples Federico II supports network development.
How do the reference doctor and local colleague work together?
The doctor who speaks the patient’s language gathers information and contributes to care. When local expertise or licensing is required, a colleague from the same Universal Doctor network authorised to practise in that country can be involved. Each doctor assesses acts within their remit.
What value does the project offer hotels and pharmacies?
Hotels add an organised pathway for guests’ healthcare needs to hospitality. Pharmacies can connect requests requiring an assessment or prescription to the medical network. Their respective functions support the care provided by doctors.
How do doctors and partners participate?
The Doctors, Pharmacies and Hotels portals present their respective accreditation or participation pathways. Access and participation gathers the links and explains each participant’s role.
Is a prescription always issued?
Any prescription is a doctor’s decision following clinical assessment. When a prescription usable in the patient’s country is needed, a locally licensed colleague can contribute. Dispensing and use depend on the applicable conditions.
Which channels are planned for travellers?
Access is through participating hotels and partner pharmacies. The app for independent access is coming soon. Languages, availability and conditions are checked for each request. Emergencies require local emergency services; a remote consultation does not replace emergency care.
